Hardy perennial, grown by us as a biennial, with attractive palmate foliage and upright spires of deep blue flowers with white petals in early and mid-summer. Sun or part shade and well-drained soil.

Soak seeds in hot water for 24 hours. Sow onto moist compost in containers in spring at 15-20°C. Cover the seed to its own depth with compost. Prick out when large enough to handle.
