This bronze, pointed spade is made in Austria and has quietly come to be known as the tool of choice for many professionals. Bronze is an alloy made predominantly from copper with a little tin added for the purposes of hardness.
These bronze spades have a beautiful, ergonomic shape and the high proportion of copper in the blade (smoother than steel) means the tool goes into the ground more easily and less sticks to the blade on exit - making lighter work of hard tasks. The shaft is made from steam-bent ash with a beech handle.
